What you need to know
Our experienced Talent Acquisition Team ensure a fair, consistent and robust selection process, which is designed to help you and Newcrest make sure of a good fit.
This includes behaviour based interviewing, aptitude and other testing, site visits, medical examinations and police clearances for particular positions.
At all times we respect confidentiality of information and your privacy. Newcrest has a genuine commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), maintaining and promoting an environment where each person's access to available opportunities is based on merit.
Search and apply for Newcrest opportunities online and see below for a step-by-step explanation of the recruitment process.
Step 1: Apply online
You'll need to apply online via our website, where you'll be asked to complete our online application form and upload a cover letter and resume.
Step 2: Applications reviewed
Our specialist internal sourcing team will review your application and decide on your suitability for the role, taking into consideration your skills, experience and relevant qualifications.
Step 3: First round of interviews
If you meet our selection criteria, a member of our team will be in touch to schedule your first interview. Depending on your location, this will be face-to-face or via phone or videoconference.
You'll need to provide Newcrest with the following at your interview:
- Photo identification e.g. Driver's licence or passport
- Relevant qualifications
- Details of two professional references
- Proof of eligibility to work in Australia (if required).
Step 4: Second round of interviews
These are typically held on-site or at one of our capital city offices, depending on the role. We'll arrange and pay for your travel and accommodation if required.
Site interviews include a detailed site tour and formal interview with one of our Human Resource team members, the direct hiring manager and other Newcrest personnel as appropriate.
This stage of the process is designed to ensure you feel as comfortable with us as we do with you. It's a chance for you to meet the team, see how we work and help you decide whether Newcrest is right for you.
Step 5: Reference Checks
We'll conduct two professional reference checks from your current and previous supervisors or managers.
Step 6: Occupational appraisals
Depending on the role you've applied for, we might ask you to complete an Occupational Appraisal. This usually involves abilities profiling, a work readiness questionnaire or personality profile.
Step 7: Medical
If you're successful at your second interview, you'll be asked to take a pre-employment medical, which aims to:
- Ensure you're fit for the job and won't put yourself or others at risk of illness or injury
- Establish your general health so that we're able to monitor you and identify any pre-existing medical conditions.
By law you must tell us about all pre-existing medical conditions, injuries or illnesses that may be affected by the job you're applying for. If you don't disclose this information you may not be entitled to worker's compensation if the job aggravates a pre-existing injury or illness.
Step 8: Job offer
Once you have successfully completed all the Newcrest recruitment processes, we'll call to make a verbal offer of employment. You should receive a written employment contract in the post a few days later.
Your Talent Acquisition Specialist will be able to answer any questions you may have about your contract. Once you've accepted our offer we'll organise your on-boarding program, which involves relocation (if required), scheduling of inductions and travel and accommodation. We offer generous relocation support and will work with our third party provider to ensure your transition is as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
