Cadia Valley Operations
20 km south-west of Orange, Cadia Valley Operations consists of the Cadia Hill open pit, the Ridgeway underground mine and a shared ore treatment facility which together employ over 1,000 people. We are currently operating three projects at our Cadia Valley Operations: Ridgeway Deeps, Cadia East Open Pit and Cadia East Underground.
The open pit operation is a traditional drill, blast, load, haul operation using large hydraulic shovels and 230-tonne haul trucks. The underground operation uses the sub-level caving mining technique, extracting ore in horizontal slices and mining the caved rock which fills the void created by the extraction.
Using some of the largest grinding mills in the world, the combined concentrator facility for the Cadia Valley Operations treats over 21 million tonnes of ore a year. For more information about Orange visit http://www.orange.nsw.gov.au/.
